Innovating Justice award for paralegals promoting access to justice in Latin America

During the Law of the Future 2011 Conference which took place on 23-24 July 2011 in The Hague for first time were presented awards for Rule of Law innovations. Winner of the 2011 competition is Programa Interamericano de Facilitadores Judiciales. This amazing program extend access to justice for millions living in small places and villages in Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala and Paraguay. Lay people elected by the local communities serve the people through delivering legal advice, resolving disputes and facilitating the contact with the official justice system.

Second price went to for innovative Online Dispute Resolution. The Russian organization Humanitarian Action received the third award for their program for improving the conditions of pre-trial detention through better access to legal and medical services.
